A long overdue version of vzClock has finally published.
The last 2.x version was published in 2013 and is 7 years ago. Life changes, and so does the technologies too. The app basically went through a revamp from Eclipse to Android Studio, and from Java to Kotlin. During the revamp, I also removed some outdated features such as manually selecting an alarm app, and added some new features such as time zone and custom date format support.
The reason why it is version 3.0.2 was that I was too confident and published a broken 3.0.0 version. The issue did not exist in the debug build but happened in release build. I released version 3.0.1 which fixed the issue, but I still observed an issue in which the clock failed to update itself for a period of time after the phone reboot. That’s why version 3.0.2 was there, but only added a description to such limitation. Unfortunately I still have no solution towards the issue. Looks like a protection of Android to maximize the battery life.
Excluding the known limitation, hopefully the clock works on most devices and help the users able to know the time zone of other countries in other languages.
The app can be downloaded from the Google Play here after Google completed publication.
